We have a birthday hat from Disneyland, we give them a certificate, pencil, sticker and birthday crown that they get to take home. Oh and we embarrass the begeezeus out of them by taking their picture in the hat/crown! Love that you give them a card, nice personal touch!
I love the birthday hat idea. When a student in my class has a birthday, I have everyone sing to him or her. That's pretty much it. I remember that when I was in 3rd grade, my teacher called me up to the board to solve a math problem and playfully SPANKED me eight times! Times certainly have changed, right? They get a special birthday card and a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday before they leave the classroom to go home!
